BARTLETT PAIRS

Each duo of blanks below represents two amusing quotes from the same well-known person, but letters have vanished in pairs, and it is your job to retrieve them. To reveal both Bartlett-like quotations, you need to put the same letter in the two spaces (one in each quotation) with the same number below it. For example, the #1 in the first set of blanks and the #1 in the second should both be filled in with the letter E. Work back and forth between the two sets of blanks, making guesses on the basis of letter frequency, letter combinations, syntax, meaning, logic, and what you know about the person quoted. If you get them all, you can bosc in the glory, anjou can be very proud of yourself. If not, answers appear as you click on the numbers.
