Deadline for submitting proposals: There is no set deadline. That said, as each proposal is submitted, it will be critiqued and a decision will be made in regard to Accept, Revise, or Reject. Once twenty to twenty-five proposals are accepted, no more proposals will be accepted.

The National Council of Teachers of English is one of eight subject specific organizations with membership in the  National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the professional accrediting agency for teacher preparation. Institutions seeking NCATE accreditation must meet carefully developed specific conditions. One of those conditions is program approval. NCTE is responsible for reviewing undergraduate English language arts education programs for institutions seeking NCATE accreditation. The NCTE Books Program invites proposals for its TRIP series (Theory and Research into Practice). These books are single-authored and focus on a single topic, targeting a specified educational level (elementary, middle, or secondary). Each book will offer the following: solid theoretical foundation in a given subject area within English language arts; exposure to pertinent research in area; practice-oriented models designed to stimulate theory-based application in the reader's own classroom.
